O difícil, porém, é render-se; acolher com esperança as brutais circunstâncias que se impõem sem humana razão;

About the work
Sometimes — perhaps it is best to say almost always — truth only truly reveals itself when surrender is total.
The difficult part, however, is to surrender: to welcome with hope the brutal circumstances that impose themselves without human reason;
To connect, not intellectually, but with all understanding, suffering and love.
The painting describes this dynamic.
When the mount with which one crosses life is pure brute force, blind, uncontrollable, insensitive, impenetrable, humanly invincible, capable of shattering without even realizing it, then, and only then, the proud one, now without consolation in this world, timidly lifts his eyes.
The supernatural becomes for him the best bet; the only good bet. Not by calculation, but by the painful removal of obstacles he himself placed in his way.
Light has its space; and the piercing beastly horn becomes fertile, and, illustrating this mystery, connects to the branch of the wood — detail.
In his own garden, the supplicant conforms to the redemptive agony. A very gentle whisper reaches him, announcing that good fruits shall come, at last, for the olive tree is in bloom again.
